FARA meets US Congress Representatives

Four influential members of the US House of Representatives participated in a Congressional Study Trip to Ghana and Liberia 19-27 March. The tour, organised by the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars, expressed a keen interest in meeting staff members of both FARA and AGRA. Accordingly, a meeting was organised on 22 March at the AGRA office in Accra. Members of United States Congress were Representatives Peter Roskam and Bobby Rush of Illiinois, James Sensenbrenner of Wisconsin, and Adrian Smith of Nebraska. They were accompanied by Karen Lindblom of the William and Flora Hewlett Foundation and several members of the Wilson Center. The FARA delegation was led by Deputy Executive Director Ramadjita Tabo, who explained FARA’s mission and operations with a Power Point presentation. The Representatives expressed keen interest in our activities and outlined several ways in which FARA could work with the US government to improve the livelihoods of smallholder African farmers.
