Climate change takes centre stage at N’Djamena

CORAF/WECARD held its 3rd Agricultural Science Week and 10th General Assembly in N'Djamena, Chad, 14-19 May under the patronage of HE Idriss Deby, President of the Republic of Chad, who officially opened the meeting. The main theme for these events was Empowering the rural poor to adapt to climate change and variability in West and Central Africa. Over 250 participants from 22 countries attended the meeting.

The Science Week, chaired by Dr Ramadjita Tabo, FARA’s Deputy Executive Director, was a framework for dialogue to identify appropriate technologies, policy options and partnership mechanisms to assist the rural poor in adapting to climate change. In the above photo, Dr Tabo, who is from Chad himself, welcomes President Deby to the FARA booth at the exhibition.
