Capacity Strengthening

The "Strengthening Capacity for Agricultural Research and Develpment in Africa" is now at the implementation stage. Two main program are ongoing:

  1. SCARDA Mentoring program
  2. Capacity strengthening at the Focal Institutions level 

SCARDA Mentoring program: The mentoring program has started at every SRO's level: CORAF/WECARD, ASARECA, SADC. CORAF has been able to place 32 qualified candidates at verious universties as follow: Read more. ASARECA and SADC are to update the program officer on this development.

Capacity Strengthening at the Focal Institutions level: Every SRO is to have its Agricultural Research Management course (ARM). The ARM course has been identified necessary during the SCARDA Inception workshop in order to improve agricultural research system i Africa.  The aim of the ARM course is to strengthen the capabilities of Focal institutions to adopt strategy to manage and develop agricultural reseach to improve live in Africa. CORAF/WECARD had its ARM course early this month at the Crop Research Institute in Kumasi from 1st - 6th December 2008. The report of this workshop is yet to be submitted by CORAF/WECARD.
